Question by Jackie: Trouble breathing; need allergy relief!?
I have pet danger allergies along with seasonal allergies. My bf has a cat and he smokes. But he makes sure to smoke by the window with a fan to suck the exhaled smoke outside. When I go to his apartment it doesn’t take long for me to have difficulties breathing. The more I go over there, the easier it’s getting to breathe. But he wants to know if there’s anything he can get to help make breathing easier for me. Like a humidifier, de-humidifier, air filters, or anything else not difficult to set up. Also, choices for winter and summer would be great!

I was hospitalized for this 4 years ago, and doctors still can’t figure it out. It comes and goes. My stomach will be normal for weeks/months at a time, but will suddenly bloat (just the top 1/2 of my abdomen) and when it does, I am constantly short of breath, as if my stomach is crowding my lungs or something. It feels like someone is squeazing or sitting on my stomach. The only relief I get is if I lay on my back, and keep my left leg elevated.
The last time I experienced this was about 2 years ago. Lately it’s back, and has kept me miserable for the last 3 weeks. Seems it will let up a little if I fast- but the moment I eat or drink anything (doesn’t matter- could be just a glass of water) I blow back up. The Dr says my heart and lungs are fine- maybe food allergies. I am allergic to soy, but at this point it does not matter what I eat or drink- this happens.

I’ve had shortness of breath kind of like an asthma attack that won’t go away for a week. It feels like I can never catch my breath, or take a deep breath, and very heavy chested. I went to my allergist who prescribed me a different asthma med and emergency inhaler and it provides NO relief. I ended up going to the ER a few days later when it got a little worse. They gave me a breathing treatment and steroids, as well as chest xrays that came up clean. That was a few days ago and I still have no relief and just have no idea what’s going on. I’m only 23, health, in shape, not a smoker, not allergies, not overweight, or other medical conditions. What could be going on?!

Airborne allergies can affect anyone at any time of the day. There is no specification as to what may cause an outbreak of allergy. Certain people suffer from bouts of sneezing in the garden or countryside. In this case, pollen is the most likely culprit causing airborne allergy. Different types of pollen like that of different flowers or pollen from the grass also cause allergic reactions. Dust mites found in the bedding is another major cause of airborne allergy. Some people are allergic to dust of chemicals found in cement at construction sites while others are allergic to animal fur.
Causes Of Airborne Allergy
You can pinpoint the cause of the airborne allergy by observing the symptoms and places where you visit or the time of the year when you suffer from the allergy. You can instantly know that you are allergic to dog fur if you play with a dog and you start to itch. While visiting a construction site, if you start to sneeze continuously you know that this is an allergic reaction to chemicals or dust.

Allergy triggers, like oak, ash, alder, elm, poplar, sycamore, grasses, molds, mulberry, and ragweed, can cause anything from sneezing to watery eyes to fever.
Experts estimate that 20 percent of Americans suffer from allergies. And that number is even higher in certain regions of the country. For example, almost half of the population in the Southwest fights the allergy battle every year.

I bought some NatraBio homeopathic sinus relief tablets at the health food store. I have trouble sleeping because of sinus congestion and was getting nervous about taking sinus and allergy meds every night long-term. (I’ve had this problem off and on for the last 10 years. It started again this time when I resumed menstruation after nursing.) Anyway, after I got home and looked at the box, I got nervous about taking something with the word “arsenic” in it. Does arsenicum have anything to do with arsenic?? It says on the box it is gentle enough for children, but I guess I have trust issues.
