Question by bayouchipette: What is the difference between prescription nasal allergy sprays?
I’ve seen various prescription nasal allergy sprays over the years, such as Flonase, Aquacort, Nasonex, Nasocort, etc. My young daughter was prescribed Nasonex. I had Nasocort at home and asked the doctor if she could use that instead, but he said no, definitely only use Nasonex (which she is). Do all the sprays do the same thing? What’s the difference in the relief they give? Thanks!

Cold/allergy nasal congestion relief?

Question by ~Claire~ FutureFilmmaker: Cold/allergy nasal congestion relief?
Hey there!

I just came down today with either super terrible allergies or a cold or sinus infection.
Symptoms:
* TERRIBLE nasal congestion
* Low off and on again fever
* Sinus Headaches
* (sorry, TMI) Really off colored, runny nasal mucus
* Sorta achey
* Symptoms lessen during the day and are horrible at night and in the morning.
* I have canker sores if that means anything.
* There’s an outbreak of a lot of sicknesses in my school.. EVERYONE seems to be sick.
* Lethargic
* Hungry and thirsty a lot.. but when I get a hold of food or water it isn’t very appetizing.
* And a new symptom.. a little tickle in my throat. Not all the time, but it’s there.

Any suggestions how to lessen symptoms? Any idea of what I have? And if it’s a cold.. how to make it not as contagious? I play basketball and I don’t want to get the whole team sick… :/

Question by Biglittle: Do they prescribe any steroid nasal sprays for allergy relief like Flonase in Japan?
I’m looking for some kind of allergy relief. I take flonase when I’m at home, but I can’t do that now I think. Anyone know anything about allergy medicines in Japan? Flonase was a miracle for me.

This is part of the mucous – nasal cilia system that defends us from disease. When the amount of liquid secreted by the nose and sinus is reduced, and the cilia of the nose and sinus slow down, the fluid thickens and you become aware of its presence. Since the thick phlegm is unpleasant and often infected because it is just laying there and not moving, our bodies naturally try to get rid of it. Whether caused by pollution, chemical exposure, or severe infection, the treatment requires that the cilia mucous system be brought back to normal.

Post nasal drip (PND) is a symptom that can be very difficult to correct especially if it is chronic.  It is a continual flow of mucus from the nasal passages and sinuses. Leaving it untreated can allow it to develop and cause a variety of health problems and leave you feeling ill and miserable.

Sinusitis conditions may go hand in hand with post nasal drip, so getting relief from the PND could alleviate sinus problems as well.

Natural Post Nasal Drip Treatment

Post nasal drip and sinusitis are not the same but rather it is the symptoms of an infected sinus, this is also caused with a common cold, flu attack and an allergic reaction which are sometimes severe enough to block the sinuses. Chronic sinusitis is often accompanied by post nasal drip too, as well as painful headaches. . Post nasal drip can be caused by dry air, air pollution, allergy, dust mites, pollen or animal dander, from dogs or cats. Post nasal drip is just one of the many symptoms of a potential sinus infection that also includes a runny nose, discharge of phlegm and mucous, a cough, bad breath and puffiness in the face. Post nasal drip consists of a runny nose along with phlegm and mucous being discharged. If the sinuses are inflamed, it affects the normal drainage of mucous of an individual.
