ENT specialist Dr. Kingsley Chin explains how to experience effective allergy relief with dust mite bedding.
I have a high intensity dust mite allergy. Will an air purifier help?
I have tried everything, encassings, keeping area clean….nothing works. Whats the best air purifier for these terrible dust allergies?
I try vaccuming too but it seems to kick up the dust and make it worse.
When you have indoor allergies to dust, mold and pet dander, you come into contact with allergy irritants all year round. This contact can be the highest in your bedroom, where you come to rest and rejuvenate, but may end up worsening allergy symptoms. The high levels of allergens found in your bedroom can affect your health, and the path to a healthier night’s sleep is through reducing your exposure to allergens and therefore preventing allergy symptoms. While steps should be taken throughout the home to reduce allergens, start in the bedroom as you spend the most time here. When you take these allergy relief steps, you’ll be on your way to a healthier home and a healthier night’s sleep.
When your body encounters this allergen it gets ready to protect you. It does this by making you: sneeze (to remove the allergen from your nasal cavities) and by watery eyes, (extra tears to remove the invader again). Some people even get skin rashes, (where your skin reacting to the invader and is trying to protect you too.)
Your body is attacking the allergen and so you experience these allergic symptoms that make you miserable. Believe me being allergic to your bed, furniture, draperies, a cat, dog or even a bird that is a pet the family loves can be hard to bear.
If you have indoor allergies, your allergy symptoms are likely caused by dust mite allergens, mold allergens and pet dander. While it may be easy to understand how molds and pets contribute to allergy symptoms, dust and dust mite allergens may be more difficult. Although there are many components in house dust to which people may be allergic, the biggest culprit is the dust mite. Dust mites are microscopic and because they cannot be seen, you may not know how to combat this virtually ‘invisible’ allergen source. Many allergic people have dust mite allergies, and to find allergy relief, it is important to learn how dust mites cause allergy symptoms. With this edition of the Allergy Control Products series on “The Secret to Living with Allergies”, you’ll find basic facts about dust mites in order to understand how they are affecting your health.
I sneeze bad and get stuffed up around 1 cat, and sneeze bad,and wake up with a sore throat everyday. I always wake up coughing too. Im looking for some natural relief. I don’t like taking meds. When I clean, vaccuum dust, and wash clothes, I start sneezing and coughing, and my eyes get watery. I’ve been suffering for the last week straight now.I only feel better in the warm moist air of the shower. I sneeze all night and my eyes water so bad that they are stuck together when I wake up. My eyes are burning all the time lately. This happens when it’s dry and windy weather, and in the dry air from the furnace. I looking for any suggestions. Benedryl on brings temporary relief.
I’ve read numerous online reviews, so now I’d like answers from people who have either found one that works superbly or have tried several and could make recommendations or tell me which ones to avoid. Replacement filters should be considered into the cost factor. Thanks
