My three year old cat was so itchy two years ago and developed skinlesions that would scab and bleed. I took her to two separate vets. They did food trials, bloodwork, fleas negative, ringworm negative, ear mites negative, feline leukemia negative. They tried antibiotics, flea meds, and gave steroids for relief. To make along story short, before consenting to a biopsy or expensive allergy testing, I went to a local natural petfood store and got some different food. She has been perfectly fine for a whole year. Now, two weeks ago , she has started with the skin problems again. Anybody else have similar experience?? I have made appt. with vet next week but wonder if anyone has advice.

Bee Pollen and Propolis?

Bees don’t make pollen they collect it from flowers. Do the bees do anything to the pollen to make it the miracle everyone says it is or are you just eating flower pollen?
I’m currently taking bee pollen and propolis capsules to help my immune system. Are capsules less effective than other methods?
How long do you have to eat honey from your area before you experience relief from allergies? Shots take quite awhile.
Too many questions?!

can/should i get allergy shots?

i have seasonal allergies/hay fever. i am basically allergic to pollen and other air particles and cat dander too.
the pollen where i live is just crazy!!!
i’ve been taking (on and off…. mostly off) allergy meds like Cleratin/Zyrtec/etc. since i was about 8yrs old… so a little over 10 years.
and i hate my allergies. and i’m supposed to take allergy meds daily during these times to lessen the symptoms but after a few weeks of taking meds i just drift off and don’t think i need to take them then my symptoms flare up again.

if you wouldn’t mind giving me a little info on allergy shots. like are they painful? is it worth it? are there any bad side effects? it it expensive (range?)? and anything else would be very helpful

Allergies, in most cases, are not life threatening. There are exceptions, as some people may be sensitive to wasp venom and may actually die from a sting. Asthma can also have some serious effects. But for most, allergies are generally a nuisance. But oh, what a big nuisance!

Why is my dog itchy ALL the time?

I have a 7-month-old female Australian Shepherd. She eats Natural Balance Limited Ingredients Allergy Formula Venison & Sweet Potato. The only other food she gets is peanut butter for treats. She is current on Revolution flea * heartworm preventative. I never see fleas on her. She was tested negative for mange. I don’t bathe her often, but when I do, I use cool water and all natural oatmeal/aloe shampoo. What could be the cause of her constant scratching and biting? I am so frustrated. Any relief tips? I feel so bad for her.

My youngest son has suffered from a myriad of allergies since he was just months old.

Mikey broke out in a scaly rash on his head at just about four months old. We thought it might be regular old cradle-cap, but brushing it out just made it worse. His pediatrician said that it was actually eczema, and with his little hands, my baby would claw at it until it bled.

One of the main symptoms of sinusitis is when the small openings from the nose to the sinus cavities are blocked and inflammation occurs.

Usually there is headache at the middle of the forehead. There is pain and facial tenderness around the eyes, cheeks or forehead where the four hallow spaces in the bones of the face are; watery eyes, severe sneezing, sore throat, sinus congestion and nasal congestion, very itchy nose, nasal drips, sinus discharge at the back of the throat and a generally weak feeling are signs of an acute sinusitis.

Sinusitis may develop after an allergy reaction. The allergy reaction causes inflammation and difficulties in breathing and produces excess mucous that block nasal passages.

Natural Remedy for Allergy

Allergy is a chronic disease which occurs when the immune system of the body does not destroy the invaders who enter into the body. This if not treated at its initial stage then it paves a way to other chronic disease.
When the immune system of body overreacts to a normally harmless substance or realizes anything as foreign to the body. The antibodies which are present in body attacks these invaders and tries to suppress the invader. The inflammation which causes is called allergy.

How to help an itchy puppy!?

I have a 9 month old puppy who’s been itching like crazy for about two months (ironically, when allergy season kicked in). I took her to the vet about one month ago, and he said he was positive it was food allergies. So, I went and bought her some hypo-allergenic food and treats. They have no corn, beef, wheat, soy, etc. – basically none of the good stuff. I changed her food gradually until she’s been totally on it for about two weeks now. Still no progress.

The vet said he wanted to try the food angle before spending upwards to $300 on an allergy test, but I’ve decided to make an emergency call to him for one tomorrow. She’s about to skin herself to death, and this morning, I found that she’s drawn blood under her armpits (or they WOULD be armpits if she were human). It’s just gone too far.
